Sparkman & Stephens design Chris Craft Sail Yacht 35
Sparkman and Stephens designed this remarkable sailing vessel, and it was built by Chris Craft in 1967. Only 68 were custom built between 1963-1985, and this is one of the few available in the market.
Our boat did two full circumnavigations in the late 80’s and in the early 2000’s by its previous owners. My wife and I purchased it 4 years ago and slowly but steadily have kept the vessel in great shape. New rigging was installed in the San Francisco bay area 5 years ago, along with new exhaust system. It is powered by a Westerbeke 4-107 with only 1800 hours on it. New bottom, topside, deck and cabin paint last summer at Anacapa boat yard. Impeccable fuel system serviced and maintained recently. This vessel has 2 separate cabins and a very spacious and safe center cockpit for easy and comfortable navigation. The forward cabin was refurbished with new cabinetry and a V-berth wall all done by a professional local marine carpenter. The aft. cabin has two single beds and a lot of storage area.
The head was completely demolished and a new restoration project was underway but unfortunately job relocation to the East coast forces us to sell our vessel as it is. There is a proper toilet in place, all the plumbing and anti-syphon system is properly installed. The head needs to be refurbished to the new owners liking and a new holding tank should be installed. We were planning on going towards the compost toilet way so that is a possibility too and would leave the head area with extra space.
Specs:
2-60 gallon diesel tanks total 120 gallons of fuel will give you a range up to 1200 nautical miles at 1500rpms@aprox 6knots.
2-30 gallon fresh water tanks.
1 VHF radio.
1 Icom short wave radio.
1 deep cycle engine start battery (new 05/2018)
2 6v house batteries (new 02/2018)
2 burner denatured alcohol stove.
1.7cft executive fridge 110v.
1 coolbox with cold plates and 4″ isolation (we never got it running as we used a small cooler for our weekend trips to the Channel islands).
2 spinnakers sails.
1 storm main sail.
1 stay sail.
1 heavy duty drogue.
Many other extras.
We never got to develop our skills to use our vessel to its full potential. It is a true blue water vessel that will take you as far as you wish to go, safely and comfortably. Last survey was done in 2013 and no issues whatsoever were found. Hand laid fiberglass up to 2″ thick, full keel and keel-rudder make our vessel extremely sturdy and safe in larger seas. As with all boats, there is wood to be maintained, caulking to replace, and little bits of happy boat owner jobs to do, but nothing at all major.
It is berthed at the Channel Islands harbor marina. The slip is transferable upon the approval of the Marina.
It is reasonably priced to sell fast. We will entertain reasonable and logical offers. Title in hand.
Please email for showing, and or for additional photos. Happy to offer/schedule a sea trial for serious potential buyers.
17′ wilderness systems kayak and 7′ achilles dinghy both in perfect shape included.
